The Government of India had announced a special provision for EPF members to withdraw funds (check pf withdrawal rules) from their EPF account during the COVID-19 pandemic. This provision allowed EPF members to withdraw a non-refundable advance of up to 75% of their total EPF balance or three months’ basic wages and dearness allowance, whichever is less, to help them deal with the financial hardships caused by the pandemic.
EPF members can apply for this advance once in a financial year, i.e., between 1st April and 31st March of the following year. However, it is important to note that this provision was announced as a temporary measure for the COVID-19 pandemic and may not be available in the future. Additionally, the provision was made available only for a limited period, and the last date for application was 31st March 2021.
It is always advisable to consult with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for the latest information on EPF withdrawals, including any provisions that may be available during the COVID-19 pandemic or any other special circumstances.
