Duties & Responsibilities of an Accountant:

  1. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Perform in-depth financial analysis, including trend analysis, variance analysis, and cost analysis, to identify key financial drivers and trends. Prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and forecasts to provide actionable insights to management and stakeholders.
  2. General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Monitor and analyze general ledger transactions to identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor and track budget variances, investigate the causes, and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and revenue optimization.
  4. Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, including tax filings and financial reporting. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  5. Internal Controls: Develop and implement robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and prevent financial fraud or misappropriation. Conduct periodic internal audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining financial processes, automating manual tasks, and enhancing data accuracy and integrity. Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  7. Financial System Management: Oversee the implementation and management of accounting software systems. Ensure the integrity of financial data and collaborate with IT teams to resolve any system-related issues.
  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to provide accurate financial information and support decision-making processes. Act as a financial advisor to guide business strategy and support organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant, ideally in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial compliance regulations and reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present financial information to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
