You may have heard her name for the first time, but make no mistake, this 19-year-old air rifle shooter Avani Lekhara has created history after becoming the first Indian woman to win a Paralympics gold medal.

With an impressive score of 149.6 Avani Lekhara has set a new paralympic world record on Monday morning. 

Who is Avani Lekhara?

India’s new golden girl, started her career after she recovered from a deadly accident in 2012 at the tender age of 11. 

The wheelchair-bound for life Avani never let her disability let her mess with her dreams. 

When did Avani start her air rifle shooting career?

She began her air rifle shooting career in 2015 after her father introduced her to air rifle shooting and archery.
